About
Marta Smaldone
Marta Smaldone is a conceptual photographer whose work treats the image as a form of memory. Across five bodies of work — in Italian, French and English — she returns to the same questions: how the past surfaces in the body, how a landscape can hold a feeling, and how the masks we wear become part of us.
Her series move between the intimate and the historical — from La memoria si fa carne, where memory is read in skin and gesture, to Le plat pays qui est un peu le mien, a meditation on belonging to a flat, wide country. The prints offered here are drawn from these series, produced as archival, signed editions.
